Characters can progress through levels and stars, both increasing their base stats, but stars have a greater impact.
The player should spend resources to increase the character’s level; higher levels require more resources. A small amount can increase each attribute with each level. The amount increased is defined by formulas.
Their star rating determines the level cap of a character. Players must increase a character's star rating to unlock higher levels, incentivizing using the summoning feature.
To increase the character’s level, the player should spend “anima shards” of the character; higher rank require higher numbers of anima shards. Each attribute significantly increases with each star, and a multiplicative factor defines the increased amount.
The rank can also improve the effect of abilities; this improvement is defined for each star for each ability.
